Business Meetings

A program of Business Meetings is organized during the show.
The program, introducing purchasers and manufacturers exhibiting at the show, through meetings pre-arranged in advance according to the particular characteristics of each, was launched in 2007 and was immediately a great success.
The program is open to all purchasers (order-givers) looking for solutions in the aeronautical and space sectors and to solutions providers exhibiting at the show.

Flight displays

At each show, more than 140 aircrafts are exhibited to visitors.

Some of these aircrafts carry out flying demonstrations each afternoon.

These flight displays are always spectacular and often astonishing, representing high points in the show and enabling exhibitors to demonstrate their technological expertise and visitors to discover the latest offerings in the field.

Solar Impulse, special guest at the Paris International Air Show

The Solar Impulse team and its revolutionary solar airplane will be present at the International Air Show at Bourget as a special guest; an invitation that comes in the wake of the recent successes of this project launched in 2003 by Bertrand Piccard and André Borschberg.

From 20 to 26 June, visitors to the show will be able look closely at SOLAR IMPULSE on the ground every afternoon from 02:30 pm and each morning, so long as weather conditions are favourable, admire its majestic flying displays whilst marvelling at the silence of its electric motors.

For the first time in history, an aircraft has successfully flown night and day without any fuel, powered for 26 hours exclusively by solar energy. This flight, made on 8 July 2010, marked the successful culmination of the initial phase of the Solar Impulse adventure, and also boosted the credibility of its aim: to demonstrate the potential of new technology in terms of energy savings and the application of renewable energy.

The success achieved by Solar Impulse rests on uncompromising analyses and research taken to extremes in every field to optimise the plane’s performance to the maximum. The carbon fibre structure, the propulsion system, the flight envelope, the airborne instruments, everything has been designed from scratch to save energy, to reduce weight without compromising on strength, and to withstand the hostile conditions experienced by both equipment and pilot at high altitude.

A second prototype, HB-SIB, is now being developed to repeat the great firsts in aviation, like crossing the Atlantic and the USA, and flying round the world in stages each lasting several days from 2014.

The Solar Impulse airplane has….

·         The wing span of an Airbus A340 (63.40m)

·         The weight of a car (1600 kg)

·         The average power over 24 hours of a scooter (10CV)

·         Three world records from its historic flight of 26 hours, 10 minutes and 19 seconds

·         The strength of a vision
